GTA 6 Release Date, Map, Characters & Everything We Know in 2026

3 min read·

When Does GTA 6 Come Out?

Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC release is expected to follow within the next year, though Rockstar has not announced an exact date for the PC version yet.

This makes it one of the most anticipated game launches in history, with pre-order numbers already shattering records set by GTA V back in 2013.

The Setting: Welcome Back to Vice City

GTA 6 brings players back to Vice City, Rockstar's fictional take on Miami and the broader state of Florida. But this isn't the Vice City you remember from 2002. The map is reportedly the largest and most detailed open world Rockstar has ever created, featuring:

  • A sprawling metropolitan city inspired by modern-day Miami
  • Swamplands, keys, and rural areas reminiscent of the Florida Everglades
  • Beaches, nightclubs, and a vibrant waterfront
  • Multiple smaller towns and suburbs surrounding the main city

The map is expected to evolve over time through updates, similar to how GTA Online expanded Los Santos with new areas and businesses.

Playable Characters: Lucia and Jason

For the first time in the series, GTA 6 features a female protagonist. Players will follow the story of Lucia, alongside her partner Jason, in a Bonnie and Clyde-inspired narrative. The dual-protagonist system allows players to switch between characters during missions, similar to the three-character mechanic in GTA V.

Their story reportedly covers themes of loyalty, ambition, and survival in the criminal underworld of Vice City.

GTA 6 Online: A New Economy

GTA 6 Online is where the long-term gameplay lives, and it's also where the in-game economy becomes critical. Based on what we know:

  • The online mode will launch alongside the single-player campaign
  • A player-driven economy will allow buying, selling, and trading items between players
  • Businesses, properties, vehicles, and weapons will all be tradeable
  • Rockstar is reportedly validating more game state on its own servers, to keep currency and items from being manufactured outside ordinary play

This player-driven economy is exactly what GTA Market is built for. When trading goes live, you'll want a trusted platform to buy and sell items safely.

What Items Will Be Tradeable?

While Rockstar hasn't released a full list, based on leaks and the GTA Online precedent, we expect:

  • Vehicles — supercars, motorcycles, boats, aircraft
  • Properties — apartments, businesses, warehouses
  • Weapons — customized firearms and melee weapons
  • Cosmetics — clothing, accessories, character customization items
  • Businesses — nightclubs, drug operations, legitimate businesses
  • Currency — in-game cash trading between players

Why GTA Market Exists

The GTA 6 economy is going to be massive. Millions of players will want to trade items, and they'll need a safe, reliable platform to do it. That's why we're building GTA Market — a dedicated marketplace with:

  • Escrow protection on every transaction
  • Verified sellers with community ratings
  • Instant search across thousands of listings
  • Fair pricing powered by market data
